This Thin Film thickness measurement system utilizes white light to measure material thickness. The absolute physical thickness is determined/calculated by using a known thickness "standard" or by using known RI values of the material.
The AcuSpec-ThinFilm software is extremely simple to operate and allows the user to select a specific layer within a multi layer constructions by simply bracketing the target thickness value.
The AcuSpec Thin Film system can measure layers of 0.5 µm - 150 µm, with a resolution of 1 nm and a "real world" accuracy of better than 0.1 µm. Higher accuracies are possible in a controlled environment.
Thin Film thickness mesaurement is frequently used in the coating and laminating industry, the electronics industry, the extrusion industry, and many more . Applications include: Coating layer thickness, Adhesive layer thickness, Silicone coating on release paper or film, Flat panel displays, Ophthalmic lenses, Solar control coatings, Precision optics, Telecoms components, and other applications where optical transparent coatings on metals, paper, film, and glass substrates need to be measured.
The AcuSpec-Thin film application software enables on-line monitoring of layer thickness. When combined with other AcuSpec software applications, it has the ability to output thickness measurement data to our MIA Data Tracker display software or to virtually any windows program (eg. Excel®, Access®, etc.).
